Over the years our charming family cottage on the banks of the river Wye has soaked up endless joy from our family and friends. It is our favourite place on earth and if you come and stay you’ll see why. This secluded, five bedroom cottage is surrounded by acres of gardens alongside the river with a beech wood and orchard filled with rhododendrons, magnolias and roses; only wildlife and the river break the silence. On the opposite bank is a beautiful pebble beach known as one of the best places in the UK for wild swimming with views of the Brecon Beacons beyond.
The tranquillity and seclusion make it a perfect venue for fishing, walking and painting, and for book lovers, famous Hay-on-Wye is a 15 minute walk away. Five sweet, simply furnished bedrooms sleep nine. There is a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and a cigar-box-panelled dressing room. There are two twins, a further small double with a shared bathroom and a single bedroom downstairs. Most of the rooms have stunning river views, all have electric blankets and good mattresses.
There is a downstairs shower room and a utility room. The downstairs kitchen has a large wooden dining table, and a cosy sitting room next door with a log burner. Upstairs there is a spacious, newly-built open plan living room and kitchen. A wrap-around balcony has 180° views upstream and downstream and sunset views over the mountains.
Come for open space and peace… dip in the river, skim stones, spy otters, and soak up the wonderful views.
Excellent 4G coverage for remote working. Washing machine, dishwasher, three fridges, one with freezer, electric ovens and gas hobs in both kitchens. Ping pong table and projector. Electricity, gas and firewood all included, but do bring your own towels.
Pets welcome, small children need supervision at all times because of the river.
